EDBA Vs PhD

What is the difference between EDBA (Executive Doctorate Business Administration) and PhD?

It's a bit too soon for me to answer as I just defended my EDBA in March and am PhD candidate since January.

However, Paris-Dauphine University issued an answer recently on a dedicated to the EDBA program website

The EDBA thesis is equal to a PhD as regards rigor, effort, contribution to knowledge, supervision and knowledge assessment. However, there are two main differences between the two degree programs.

First, while a PhD is more focused on developing theory and is more appropriate for participants who wish to pursue a career  in academics, the EDBA incorporates an important component of corporate managerial experience into academic work, under strict scientific criteria quality control. The U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation consider that the EDBA doctoral degree is "equivalent" to the Ph.D.

Second, the EDBA provides intensive and personalized thesis supervision and coaching. Such support is highly valuable in order to  enhance the scientific level of participants under important time constraints.

I already expressed my feedback on the program EDBA Paris Dauphine University & Shanghai Jiao Tong University… It will remain by far the best training I had the chance to experience.

So don't miss our EDBA day the 10th of June to get more feedback from alumni and academics.

In the meantime, here is a testimonial from Michel Philippart:
